World Naked Gardening Day

World-Naked-Gardening-Day

World Naked Gardening Day is May 2 and is a time to let out your inner gardener. Even if you don’t think you have a green thumb, you can still participate in growing something fun or healthy.

If you have a yard, consider planting some beautiful flowers to help feed the birds and bees in their quest for food. Having a nice bunch of flowers inside lifts the spirits and extras make wonderful gifts to neighbors or friends.

If you like eating healthily, having a garden is a great way to eat “close to the earth”. You can start with your favorites for a salad with lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, and radishes perhaps.

Getting children or grandchildren involved in gardening is a way to connect them to nature and encourage them to care for Mother Earth while eating well. Allow them to pick out a vegetable and let them care for the plant until maturity. Time spent outdoors is a great way to spend quality time together, unplugged, and focused.

If you don’t have a yard, you can still plant some herbs with kits that fit neatly on a windowsill. There is nothing like snipping fresh herbs to liven up your meal.

Any way you look at it, getting out in nature is always a great experience and Vitamin D from the sun, in small amounts, is great for your body and mind. And if you get your hands a little dirty, clean up is easy when you are nude! Be sure to celebrate the day in some small way and who knows, by next year, you might be able to pass on some great gardening tips for the next World Naked Gardening Day.
